• Welcome to Grade 6 Band! Now that we are well underway, all students should be bringing their instruments home twice per week and on weekends and practicing a minimum of 150 minutes per week. Please encourage them to play and listen to them play. Applaud them, ask to hear a song, and help them to review their notes and terms in their lesson books.  As the music becomes more difficult, you should hear them practicing at home more than at the beginning of the year. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to participate in the BCSD music program!

Ms. Michelle Buechele

Hello. My name is Michelle Buechele and I am the Grade 6 Band instructor. This is my 30th year in the Beacon City Schools and it feels like home! I am originally from Ohio, went to college in Boston, and settled here in the Mid-Hudson Valley. In the beginning of my teaching career, I taught at JV Forrestal and Glenham elementary schools. I then spent the majority of my career as the band instructor at Beacon High School where we began with only 1 band of 16 students and grew to a Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Woodwind Ensemble. We traveled to Toronto, Boston, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Annapolis to perform in music competitions. I transferred to Rombout Middle School in 2007 to help build the program in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I am also the coordinator for the BCSD music department. Please feel free to email me at Buechele.M@beaconk12.org should you have any questions or suggestions for the music programs in any of the 6 BCSD schools.
