Letter to Parents 8th Grade Moving Up Dance June 14th

March 7, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians of 8th Graders;

The 8th Grade Moving Up Dance will be held in the Rombout Middle School gymnasium on Friday, June 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is a social event that our 8th grade students look forward to; therefore, it is our hope that the following information will be helpful to both parents and students in preparing for this special occasion.

The dance is semi-formal in both attire and atmosphere. Limos are not to be used. Ladies are not to wear gowns or strapless dresses. Dresses or dress pants with dressy blouses are recommended. Summer evening dresses with spaghetti straps are fine. Gentlemen are not to wear tuxedoes or suits. Slacks and button-down shirts are preferred. Students should wear dress shoes that are comfortable. Sneakers are discouraged. The dress code established for this evening is appropriate for middle school dances such as this occasion, with comfort and expense in mind for both students and parents. The school's dress code is still in effect.

To be eligible to attend this special event, students must meet both academic and disciplinary eligibility standards. A student is ineligible to attend if the student is failing two or more subjects as of Q3 report cards and Q4 progress reports. Students with three or more OSS/ISS days combined for the fourth quarter will also be ineligible to attend the dance, subject to administrative review.

This event is open to eligible 8th Grade Rombout students only. No guests from other grade levels or school districts will be admitted to this event.

Thank you for your attention and support regarding this very special event. It is our hope that this information will be helpful to everyone.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brian Soltish
Principal
