I wanted to take a moment and update you on our administrative vacancies this summer. Tonight, the Beacon City School District Board of Education approved two appointments. Daniel Glenn was appointed to be the principal of South Avenue Elementary School. Daniel has nineteen years of experience teaching first and second grade in the Newburgh School District and for the last three years he has been an assistant principal in the New Paltz School District. Daniel brings a wealth of experience as an elementary educator and we are excited to welcome him to the district. He will start on August 23.
Vanessa DeFonce was appointed to be the interim principal of Beacon High School for the 21-22 school year. Vanessa has extensive experience as a middle school assistant principal and principal in the Lakeland school district and has served as the interim principal of Beacon High School in 2018. For the last three years, she has served in a variety of substitute administrative positions in Beacon. She knows the faculty and staff of Beacon High School well and is ready to jump in and begin this week. The search for a principal of BHS will begin again later this school year for the 22-23 school year.
Please join me in welcoming them to the district in these roles!
