  • We'd like to formally invite you to bring your undecided seniors and your junior class to Rockland Community College on Wednesday, April 26. This is a great chance for students to discover the wide-ranging opportunities available to them through the State University of New York. Representatives from most of the SUNY campuses will be in attendance and available to meet with your students.

At RCC, your students will get a true college experience at a community college price. You can explore all that we have to offer at this event and learn more about RCC's strong connection with — and transferability to — the 4-year SUNY schools.

You have the option of two session times on the morning of April 26. Choose from 9:30–11AM or 11AM–12:30PM.

Once you reserve a space, we ask that you register students in advance, prepare them for the fair, and arrange for their transportation. If your district has financial needs that require bus transportation, contact SUNY directly about compensation for the cost.

We will also be hosting a college fair in the evening for students and their families.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this event. We look forward to seeing you and your students on campus!

    Sincerely,

    Brian Sondey
    Executive Director of Enrollment Services

  • Binghamton university

Binghamton University encourages students to discover unexpected passions and interests that transform their undergraduate degree. Your students may not know that Binghamton offers these distinctive majors, so thanks for keeping us in mind when your students ask you about these areas of study:

    Digital and Data Studies minor

In fall 2022, Binghamton's liberal arts school launched a new minor in Digital and Data Studies (DiDa). Students gain the skills to produce innovative digital work at all levels (programming, computational processes, digital storytelling, media studies, etc.). These important skills complement a liberal arts education by giving students a competitive edge when they apply to graduate school or enter the workforce.

    Global Studies minor

The global studies minor helps prepare students for a diversified world full of complex challenges and opportunities. Students examine pressing issues confronting today's world and relate it to the full range of their overall studies, personal interests and future goals.

    Industrial and Systems Engineering

Students who major in industrial and systems engineering learn how to devise efficient ways to use workers, machines, materials, information and energy to make a product or provide a service.

Industrial engineers often work on teams with other professionals and find jobs in a broad range of areas including healthcare and manufacturing.

    Arabic Studies

Arabic Studies focuses on Arabic language and literature as a gateway to the culture and civilization of the Arabic-speaking world.

Students majoring in Arabic Studies find themselves in demand for careers in business, foreign service, academics, defense, intelligence and national security.

    Human Development

Human development explores issues of equity and social justice, psychology, citizenship and health. Students intern at local human service agencies, schools, healthcare settings, government offices and Binghamton University offices. It’s not uncommon for an internship site to hire the student after graduation.

    Environmental Studies

The environmental studies degree program aims to help students find solutions to critical environmental problems our society faces — from global warming to species extinction, from water contamination to soil erosion.

Bureau and Labor Statistics indicate that the employment outlook for sustainability and environmental specialists is projected to grow 11% by 2024, faster than the average for all occupations! Graduates can pursue a wide range of careers, including research in environmental science, positions within advocacy groups or consulting firms, environmental law and environmental education.

    Asian and Asian American Studies

Students majoring in one of these tracks will learn about the social, cultural and historical aspects of Asians in the U.S. and, more broadly, Asians in the Americas; comparative Asian studies encompassing two or more Asian countries; or the diverse cultures, peoples and regions of South Asia.

Asian and Asian American studies prepares students for careers demanding expertise in culture and language.

    Classics: Greek and Latin

Classical Studies is offered through the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies. Major tracks in classics offer coursework in the cultures, languages and literature of the ancient Mediterranean, with a focus on ancient Greece and Rome.

Students in this major have a distinct edge in applying to law school. Law schools appreciate students coming from different educational backgrounds because they are more perceptive and culturally inclined.

We encourage you to research further and help your students fully explore the many different educational paths that Binghamton University has to offer!
