Beacon CIty School District Universal Pre-Kindergarten

  • There are still openings for Pre-Kindergarten at all elementary schools.   Children are eligible for the Pre-Kindergarten program if their parent/guardian resides in the Beacon City School District and he/she will turn 4 years of age on or before December 1st, 2016.  Review this page for further information.

All students need to be registered, by appointment, with the district registrar. The registrar, Mrs. Gail Morgan, can be reached at 838-6900 x 2002.  To expedite the registration process, your registration packet must be complete. The link is below. PLEASE print this as a single sided document.

The 2016-2017 Beacon Pre-Kindergarten Program is a half-day grant funded program and is currently offered at each of the four district elementary schools. Please understand that the program will only operate if the Beacon School District continues to receive Pre-Kindergarten grant funding from New York State.  Notification letters to families confirming student attendance are mailed out at the end of July pending final funding approval from the state.

    Building Assignment

School assignments are determined by parent/guardian residency and are assigned on a first come, first served basis. If your child’s home school is at capacity then the next closest school with an available opening will be offered for placement.  There are also a limited number of spots at our cooperating agencies:  Rose Hill Manor and Cedar Street Daycare.  The registrar will have more information at your registration appointment.

The district provides transportation for eligible students (residence greater than 1.5 miles from school) as follows: arrival (AM students) or dismissal (PM students) only.  All other mid-day transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.  Transportation requests are part of the registration packet.

Students are provided a healthy snack each day during their half day program. The Beacon City School District is an active partner in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program and Pre-K students are eligible as follows:

    AM students:   Breakfast   ($1.35)

    PM Students:     Lunch       ($2.60)

Your child may be eligible for free or reduced lunch prices. A paper application will be issued on the first day of school.  After registration and your child has been assigned a student ID families can also apply online at the following link:
