Information Regarding Free WiFi in the Beacon City School District
Posted by Victoria Jackson on 4/15/2020
Dear Beacon Families:
I wanted to provide a quick update about wifi access. We now have public wifi access in all of our school parking lots. The instructions for accessing this is at the end of this message. We also have ordered two shipments of hotspots for families in need to be able to use during this time. Our shipments will arrive in the coming weeks and each school principal has identified families that could use this support. Over the next few weeks, we hope to have made a significant dent in access to wifi in this community during this challenging time. A special thanks go out to our Technology department for making all of this happen!
Quick note- coming next week- information about grading in the fourth quarter.
Here is the parking lot wifi information:
The name of the wifi network is "Guest Open". Users may need to refresh their wifi network list on their device when they arrive in order to see the "Guest Open" network. Below are instructions on how to access the hotspot at each site keeping in mind the signal will be strongest the closer to a school building users can get.
Beacon High School - Hotspot can be accessed from the main parking lot in front of the main entrance. (Strongest signal will be in line with the flagpole)
Rombout Middle School - Hotspot can be accessed from the visitor parking lot in front of the main entrance. (Strongest signal will be in the drop off loop)
South Ave. School - Hotspot can be accessed from the staff parking lot on the side of the school. (Strongest signal will be in the front parking spots closest to the building.)
Sargent School - Hotspot can be accessed from the visitor parking and drop off loop in the front of the building. (Strongest signal will be closest to the classroom wing next to the garden and near the handicap spaces.)
J.V. Forrestal School - Hotspot can be accessed from the visitor parking/student drop off area. (Strongest signal will be closest to the visitor parking spots.)
Glenham School - Hotspot can be accessed from the main parking lot in front of the building. (Strongest signal will be in line with the main office.)
