Superintendent Weekly Update November 8, 2024
Reminder- Schools and Offices are Closed on Monday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all of our Veterans for their service to our country. We all appreciate your sacrifice!
Star Students and Star Employees are Back!
I have been writing these Superintendent updates for a long time. For many years of the update, I would feature a Star Student and a Star Employee every week. Somehow, I got away from it. I think it probably happened during the COVID era. We have other ways of acknowledging the amazing members of our district community through commendations and social media but I missed this and it felt like time to bring it back so a few weeks ago we started pulling it together. Every week there will be a student from one of our schools and an employee from one of our departments or schools. I hope to add Star Volunteers soon as well.
I am a big believer in gratitude and I am grateful to be a part of the Beacon community. I feel lucky to work with everyone in our community every day. So, please enjoy reading about our Stars and all of the other amazing things happening here. They inspire me, I hope they inspire you.
Star Student-BHS-Messiah Gardner
Messiah Gardner is a Senior at BHS. He is vice president of the BHS Chorus, Treasurer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a student representative to the Board of Education. Messiah is also a part of the Beacon Players and will be one of the stars of the show this weekend! His leadership is appreciated and valued by the BHS community!
Star Employee- Jessica Verdile
Jessica takes pride in the care and upkeep of South Ave. Elementary School. Just this past school year, Jessica was instrumental in dealing with the gym ceiling issues at South Avenue. Jessica is a valued member of the district staff and goes above and beyond often!
Upcoming Athletic Events- Big Weekend- Go Bulldogs!
Girls Volleyball Sectional Finals 5:30 at Mount Saint Mary College. This is our first time ever in the sectional finals!

Boys Varsity Football Sectional Playoffs tonight at 6:00 at Port Jervis High School. This is our first time ever in the sectional semi-finals!
Girls Swimming: Good luck to Lauren Antonucci, Isabel Bunker, Serena Stampleman, and Saniyah Wiltshire who are all swimming in Sectional Finals on Saturday at Valley Central.
